Kier’s Kidz
The Legacy of Kiersten Hickman-Perfetti
Kier’s Kidz is a helping community open to everyone and intended to help ill children, esp. children with cancer, and their families, to honor health-care professionals who care for these children and to raise money for pediatric cancer research.
Kiersten Hickman-Perfetti died at the age of 22 on 23 April 2008 of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a relatively rare pediatric cancer. Kiersten spent the last four years of her life fighting cancer and living life as passionately and compassionately as she could. Helping kids with cancer and their families became a major focus of Kier’s life during her illness. A year before she died, Kier decided that she wanted to create Kier’s Kidz as part of her legacy of love and caring.
At the present time, Kier’s Kidz has a donor agreement with the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House (PRMH), a nonprofit organization that provides lodging, food, social services, and kid and family activities, to the children and families who stay at their three houses in the Philadelphia area. To make a donation to Kier’s Kidz at PRMH, please click on: http://www.philarmh.org/get-involved/donate/ and make a donation in honor of Kiersten Hickman-Perfetti (see “Type of Donation” at the bottom of the PRMH web page).
Kier’s Kidz also has a donor agreement with The Songs of Love Foundation, a non-profit organization that creates individualized, personalized songs for children with substantial physical, emotional and/or neurological challenges. Professional songwriters create songs in the child’s first language and send the completed song on a CD to the child and the family. To donate to Kier’s Kidz at Songs of Love, please click on:

Kier’s Kidz also has a donor agreement with Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a non-profit organization that funds pediatric cancer research projects that have undergone rigorous review by medical and business professionals. Ninety percent of all monies donated to Alex’s is used for cancer research. Donations to Kier’s Kidz at Alex’s Lemonade Stand are tax-deductible. To donate to Kier’s Kidz at ALSF, please click on: www.alexslemonade.org/register/donation and make your donation in honor of Kiersten Hickman-Perfetti and any other person you want to name. Please select “rhabdomyosarcoma” as the type of cancer research you want to support.
In the future Kier’s Kidz will raise money through lemonade stand sales, concerts, shows and plays, golf tournaments, and any other activities that people help create. If you have an idea, please contact us at kierskidz@optonline.net.
Thanks so much for helping kids with cancer and all those people who love them.
